Founded in Florence, Italy, in 1860, Panerai's identity was built by supplying precision instruments to the Royal Italian Navy. The company created the first Radiomir dive watch in the 1930s. They later developed the Luminor model, known for its lever-lock crown guard, in the late 1940s. Exclusively military until 1993, Panerai quickly became a global luxury icon upon entering the public market.
